Exodus Overview (Chart 1)
The Book of Exodus:
Describes the bondage of Israel in Egypt; the 10 plagues; Moses and the divine deliverance of Israel; the journey of Israel from Egypt, through the Red Sea and to Mt Sinai, the giving of the 10 Commandments and the (Old) Covenant; the golden calf; and the building of the Tabernacle.

A quick overview of the first five books ....
To help you to understand the story of each book, a Bible Commentary can be used to get an overview of the contents - for the purposes of this study we have used the 'New English Commentary: Revised' as a guide to explain the times and events, broken up into chapters, of Israel's journey from Bondage to the Promised Land.
